Summer of sport sees uptake in LED digital signage
Summer is here! If you’re the owner of a restaurant or bar, that means one thing – outdoor drinkers. And what better way to bring in customers than the introduction of some fantastic LED digital screens to your outdoor space, especially given the amount of great sport that’s lined up!
There’s something for everyone this summer, with the Formula 1 season in full swing, the UEFA Women’s European cup, The Open, and the Commonwealth Games all being shown live on TV, there’s no better time to bring in some LED Screens to help your business flourish. Our LED displays are perfect for creating a rousing atmosphere where everyone can enjoy the brilliant performances on display. Here are some of the spectacular sporting events that you can display this summer!
The 150th Open Championship
The British Open (commonly referred to as The Open) is golf’s oldest major championship, and is one of the four men’s major golf tournaments, with the others being the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. The British Open is celebrating its 150th year in 2022. It’s named as such due to the fact that the tournament is “open” to both amateur players and seasoned professionals alike. Stars like Rory Mcilroy, Jordan Spieth, and the golfing great himself, Tiger Woods, are all competing in the tournament this year, so it’s definitely not one to be missed!
UEFA Women’s European cup
This huge event is currently being hosted right here in the UK, and is already celebrating a record attendance for the tournament, with nearly 69,000 fans turning out to see England scramble a 1-0 win against Austria in their opening game. The team has progressed emphatically, with a record breaking 8-0 win over Norway to put them through to the quarter finals, so be sure to get your outdoor screens set up before then! Women’s football has been going from strength to strength over the years, and with more people than ever tuning in to watch the games, displaying the lionesses on a huge LED screen is more likely than ever to draw in a crowd!
Formula 1
With the new Formula 1 season already well underway, things are really starting to hot up! Seven time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton has struggled so far to keep pace with newly upgraded Ferrari and Red Bull cars, so there’s a lot of work to be done if he and his Mercedes team are to have any chance of delivering the driver a record 8th championship win. There have been plenty of twists and turns (quite literally) on a weekly basis this season, showing exactly why Formula 1 has remained one of the most popular sports in the world for so long.
2022 Commonwealth Games
Much like the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games are held every four years, and they still stand as a colourful celebration of sport and human performance. Each year’s event is hosted by a member of the British Commonwealth, the most recent of which was Queensland in Australia in 2018. This year’s games, though, are being hosted right here in the UK! The games feature a variety of sporting disciplines, from boxing, swimming, mountain biking and so on, and have seen some of the greatest sporting moments in history achieved throughout its duration. Perhaps the most notable of these occurred in 1954, when Roger Bannister and John Landy became the first people to break the four-minute mile in a race at the Vancouver games. Let’s see what this year brings!
